A. Definition of Application Letter
Application letter is a letter to express your interest in applying for a job. It is a letter to an institution or a company. So, it is written in a formal way and tone as well as clear in saying what the writer mean without any ambiguous meaning.
B. The Objective of writing Application Latter
The Social function of application letter is to apply for a particular position offered by a company or an organization . the purpose of a job application or résumé cover letter is to improve your chances of being called for an interview, by convincing the reader that you would be the best person for the job. If your letter is poorly written, the reader will not likely take the time to look at your résumé.
C. Structure of Applications Letter
Thecation letter or now is also called ‘cover letter’, consists of several parts :
- Opening: Usually it starts with a sentence like this: ‘ I am writing to apply for the post of ‘Editor’ in your company as advertised in (name of media you see the vacancy ad) on (the date of the media, especially the printed one when they published the vacancy ad).
- Content: Normally it includes the information which shows your match to the requirement, education, experience and the reason for choosing such job plus the reason why they shoulf hire you).
- Closing: It ends with the statement on the necessary attachments and expression on looking forward to the next update on the process.

In this section, you will need to explain why you are contacting the reader.

Education And Previous Experience
Your prospective employer is going to be interested to know what qualifications you have, here are some ways to express this information.
• I have experience in…..and have worked at…….for the last…..years.
• My education includes a degree from XY university.
• I have been studying (subject) for 3 years.
• I am a native English speaker and have ample knowledge of Spanish and Chinese.
What Makes You Ideal For This Position?
You are going to want to convince the reader that you are the best option for this position.
• I am a driven and ambitious person who is keen to learn new skills.
• I believe I am the best choice for this position as I have a lot of experience in my previous role.
• I feel that I am the most suitable candidate for this job because of my ambition and drive to make a change.
• I am excited to have the opportunity to be able to work with a reputable company like yours.
Closing Statement
At the end of your letter, you will need to close off by saying thank you.
• Thank you for taking the time to read through my application.
• Please contact me at any time should you wish to arrange a meeting.
• Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further information.
• I appreciate your consideration for this application and look forward to hearing from you.

F. How to Write Applications Letter
1. Research the company and job opening
Thoroughly research the company you're applying to and the specifications of the open position. The more you know about the job, the better you can customize your application letter.
2. Use a professional format
This letter should follow a professional format and include your name, your contact information, the date and the company's information.
3. State the position you're applying for
Open the letter with a clear statement about the position you are applying for. Mention the company by name.
4. Explain why you're the best fit for the job
In one or two impactful sentences, explain why you're the best fit for this job opening.
5. Summarize your qualifications
Mention the top qualifications that make you a good fit for the job. Provide a brief summary of your background that highlights the most important points from your resume.
6. Mention why you want the job
Include a personal statement about why you want this position. You've already explained why the company should want you.
7. Include a professional closing
Thank the reader for reviewing your letter, reference your resume and any other attached documents and offer to provide additional information as needed.
